About QuickTac

What is QuickTac?

A project I spun up after I realized many youtubers and social media gun influencers are horrible at providing clear, concise, and acurate information. Most GunTubers spend a 15-20 minute video on sizzle reels, ad plugs, and useless drivel that could all be cut out. They also often regurgitate marketing material unquestioningly, propagate fuddlore, and in general do not aim to understand the topics they are instructing on. I aim to concentrate useful and accurate information into quick 1-minute snippets (as well as longer supplemental videos) so you and others do not have to waste their time.

You got something wrong!

Shit! Feel free to leave a (polite) comment on your social media platform of choice, but I would prefer if you send me an email directly so I have a better platform to respond where I can provide additional links and files, and I am not constrained by character limits.

I want to only propagate correct information! Any corrections you can provide are greatly appreciated. A large part of why I keep my videos extremely short is because I want to be able to correct small errors without having to re-edit, re-render, and re-upload 15-20 minute videos.

Keep in mind though, anecdotes and theorizing are not meaningful "corrections", please keep your corrections data-driven. I could not care less about "That Time I Was On Deployment In The Sandbox And...", I care about "here's some studies/whitepapers/tables of data that refute the point you made" or "here is a picture or video displaying the problem I have".

What's with the balaclava/Text-To-Speech/face censoring?

Personal Security (PERSEC). Who I am is fundamentally unimportant to the content I create. You don't need to know who I am, know what I look like, or know what I sound like, to engage with the information I present. I am a private person and I do not enjoy people on the internet knowing my identity. You too, should probably be practicing persec on the internet, far too much information about you is available to any random person who knows how to use google.

Additionally, I find that the text-to-speech I use is more consistent, evenly paced, and comprehensible than my own voice.

Why do some videos start with annoying safety warnings?

Because some websites like to be nitpicky about firearms content. I want my videos to work on multiple platforms so I just play it safe and have intro boilerplates whenever it's relevant.

Why do you not talk about [Thing]?

There are a variety of reasons I may not talk about something.Want to know why? Leave a comment or shoot me an email.

The topic you're thinking of may:

What are your credentials?

I am a certified Stop The Bleed and TCCC ASM Instructor. I have no formal credentials related to firearms as of yet. I am a gun nerd on the internet that enjoys compiling and aggregating information into useful formats. I am also working towards a number of armorers and instructors certifications, and will update this when I am certified.

Where do you get your information?

A variety of sources. I have several friends I collaborate with in the pursit of data-driven & operationally-proven gear, guns, and training. It's very impromptu but feel free to shoot me an email if you're looking for specific sources or demonstrations of a concept's efficacy. I would like QuickTac and this website to serve as a hub for my work as well as theirs in this pursuit. We should always be looking for newer data, more accurate information, new ideas, new materials, and new products. The best way to keep a leg up on an aggressor is to take every advantage you can get, and that's the end goal for this project, providing people with clear, concise, and accurate information that give them every advantage they could possibly take.

What do you stand for/What are your thoughts on [Issue]?

Fundamentally my personal political tendency does not matter. As a project, QuickTac's target audience is marginalized and disadvantaged individuals who are more susceptible to being attacked. People of color, LGBTQ people, disabled people, you get the jist. These people are uniquely targeted for factors outside of their control, and I want to ensure they have the means to defend themselves against these attacks. These people are also not the usual sort to be in the military, or participating within the general firearms community, due to the bigoted and exclusionary nature of both of those environments. Therefore, they often lack knowledge, training, and resources, when compared to the typical person interested in firearms.

In general, I'm not going to weigh in on political issues, outside of possibly "here is the current legal situation regarding this firearm and what you need to know about it".

For Gun Control specifically, I am strongly of the belief that firearms are a genie out of the bottle we cannot get back in without the deployment of an oppressive and violent police state unlike anything the world has ever seen, which would unquestionably cause more harm than good. Firearms are a fact of life in the United States, and their regulation by the state and police will always be abused to align with the interests of the state and the police, rather than the people. Further gun control measures only serve to limit guns to the wealthy and powerful.

As far as the second amendment? I believe our right to self-armament does not derive from a piece of paper. We deserve the right to firearms for self and home defense regardless of what the government says.

If you're really interested in my personal tendency though, I'm generally of a left-wing anarchist-ish tendency. If you're not cool with that, fuck off and don't use my resources I guess.

Why are you wearing the same stuff in every video?

I wanted something cheap I can wear during videos that is visually undistracting so both me and the audience can focus on the topic on hand. "Aesthetic" is fundamentally unimportant for instructional videos if you cannot provide accurate information. It also means if I record separate segments on different days, the transitions are less jarring. It does make me look like a square though.

How can I support you?

Don't bother. Invest in local affinity groups and organizations dedicated towards arming and training people who need it. Not just money, but volunteer your time and knowledge as well. Don't support large national organizations that only care about paying their organizers (which is to say, any national organization).

If you really want to provide me with nonmonetary support, shoot me an email. I always appreciate additional information and assistance from Subject Matter Experts.
